The Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel, Norfolk’s only downtown waterfront hotel is approximately:

The Sheraton does not have shuttle service. You must make your own transportation arrangements to/from hotel (taxi, private car, airport shuttle, public transportation, etc.).
The hotel is adjacent to the Waterside Festival Marketplace, which has a food court and other eating establishments. The hotel is also within a short walking distance of the Granby Street area restaurants. Please peruse the hotel website, www.sheraton.com/norfolk for more detailed information about this hotel.
The Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel has reserved a block of its 468 rooms for the BKX/NIS meeting participants and guests. You may book your room starting October 1, 2008. The room rate is $99 per room per night (+ $1.00 Flat bed tax per room/day) plus an additional 13% state and local taxes) whether single, double, triple or quad. The hotel registration code is listed as the “National Meeting of the BKX/NIS” in the Sheraton system. Refer to this code when making room reservations to receive the group rate. After 5:00 PM, February 22, 2009, the room rate increases. Overflow will have to find accommodations at other nearby hotels at their prevailing rates. The nearest hotel to the Sheraton is the Marriott.
Attention School Sponsors or Person(s) making student travel arrangements: The NIS funds student lodging based on 4 students/room at the group discount rate ($99/day + applicable taxes). If you prefer lodging your students 1-3 per room, you will have to supplement that additional cost. The NIS does not make travel nor lodging arrangements for students. The NIS does not make travel arrangements nor fund travel for faculty.
All chapters must be currently active and financial with the National Institute of Science to receive grant funding. Please contact Dr. Freddie Dixon at fdixon@udc.edu, ASAP, for your start-up packages if you do not presently have an active NIS Club.

There are no complimentary terminals/internet connections located in the hotel. High Speed Internet is available at an additional charge of $9.95 per day/room. If your students(s) require Internet connection, this charge must be paid by the student (s): The NIS does not fund this charge. The hotel does NOT HAVE a “Business Center”: Photocopying nor printing is available so, bring all materials you need with you. If you need computer access, you must bring your personal laptop and pay the hotel room Internet access charge.
AUTOMOBILE PARKING:
Covered and secured parking for hotel guests is located at the Dominion Tower Parking Garage, adjacent to the hotel. Self-parking for overnight guest of the hotel at this facility is $12.00/day. Overnight valet parking is available upon request at a charge of $22.00. Valet parking during an “event only” is $12.00/day. Parking is subject to availability and prices may change without notice. There are other nearby parking facilities in the area.
MOTOR COACH PARKING:
A complimentary parking area is located about ¼ mile from the hotel for long-term parking of buses (through the entire 4-5 days of the meeting).
If your group will require this facility, please call the hotel directly to make arrangements.
Please remind your students that hotel restaurant meals entail additional charges on top of tax. Room service also includes a delivery charge, gratuity, etc.

There is no Registration form in the packet. Registration for the meeting will be entirely on-line. The NIS only funds registration fees for the meeting host(s) institution(s). Registration fees are the sole responsibility of the individual/school/ institution.
