Outstanding Scientist Nominations
The National Institute of Science Outstanding Scientist Award will be presented in recognition
of a scientist who has a distinguished career in research and has contributed to the higher
education of minority youth by direct contact as an employer, research mentor, or volunteer.
Guidelines
This award is given to a minority scientist who meets the following criteria:
- Has an affiliation with the National Institute of Science (past or present)
- Has served and continues to serve as a role model for minority youth
- Has at least 10 years of research experience (defined by publications, patents, presentations
at national meetings, etc.)
- Is currently involved in cutting-edge research
- Has worked directly with minority students in a teaching capacity
- Is recognized as an authority in a particular field of science or mathematics
